Features
Tactics board
- Place players, the ball and training equipment (cones, disc cones, ladders, rings, mats, target zones, ball carts) on a full court or a half court.
- Each player shows a number, a name and a position badge: S, OH, MB, OPP or L.
- Draw arrows and lines in several styles (straight, curved, dashed, zigzag and more) or free-hand paths for runs and ball flight.
Animated plays
- Save player positions frame by frame and play the movement back once, in a loop or back and forth, at the speed you choose.
- Export an animation as a GIF or as a frame sheet, one image with every frame (Pro; the preview is free).
Rotation board
- Enter your starting six with roles (S, OH, MB, OPP, L) and step through rotations R1–R6. Any lineup can be entered, including 5-1 and 6-2.
- The libero automatically replaces the middle blocker in the back row, or a player you choose, and steps out when that player rotates to serve.
- Drag players to build serve and receive formations. Each formation is saved for each rotation.
- Overlap (position fault) check based on rule 7.4 of the FIVB Official Volleyball Rules 2025–2028. By default it checks receive formations and skips your own serve formation; you can switch to strict checking of both.
- Pro: auto-align and snap. A dropped player snaps to a legal position, and one tap fixes a formation with an overlap fault.
- Overview of all six rotations on one screen.
Match mode
- Tap the team that won the rally: the score, the serve and the rotation update automatically.
- Set the points per set, the points for the final set (a preset or any number from 1 to 99) and the number of sets (1, 3 or 5).
- A set ends at the target score with a two-point lead. The app shows the set result, then switches court sides and the first serve for the next set.
- Undo, court lock, libero, and automatic 5-1 position assignment from your setter.
Play gallery
- Ready-made plays and drills to open and edit: 5-1 serve receive in R1–R6, read-block shifts left and right, a free-ball transition, base defense after the serve, and drills such as butterfly serve-receive, queen of the court (3v3) and a three-player passing triangle.
- The gallery is downloaded when you open it, so it needs an internet connection.
Sharing
- Share a board as a PNG image.
- Share a play as a web link. Anyone can watch it in a browser and import it into RallyBoard. Player names are not included in the link, only numbers, positions and movements.
Rosters, auto-save and backup
- Save rosters with names, numbers and positions, and load them in each mode.
- Your work is saved automatically and is still there when you reopen the app.
- Full backup exports boards (with animations), rosters and the language setting as text, so you can move everything to another device.
13 languages
- 한국어, English, 日本語, 中文, Italiano, Polski, Français, Deutsch, Srpski, Türkçe, Русский, Português, Español.
- On first launch the app uses your device language if it is one of these, otherwise English. You can change it in the menu.

Frequently asked questions
What is RallyBoard?
RallyBoard is a volleyball app for coaches and PE teachers on iPhone, iPad and Android. It has a tactics board for drawing and animating plays, a rotation board for R1–R6 with serve and receive formations and an overlap check, and a match mode that keeps score and rotates the lineup automatically.
Is RallyBoard free?
Yes. You can download and use it for free, with no ads and no account. RallyBoard Pro is an optional one-time purchase, not a subscription. It removes the free limits (3 saved boards, 2 rosters, 10 saved positions, 1 saved animation and 2 formations) and adds GIF and frame sheet export and overlap auto-align. The price differs by country and is shown in the App Store.
Does RallyBoard follow the FIVB 2025 rule on position faults when serving?
Yes. Under rule 7.4 of the FIVB Official Volleyball Rules 2025–2028, only the receiving team must be in rotational order when the ball is served; players of the serving team may stand anywhere. RallyBoard follows this by default: it checks overlap in receive formations and skips the check for your own serve formation.
Can I use stricter rules, as in some US or school competitions?
Yes. If your competition still requires the serving team to be in rotational order, open Select formation in rotation mode and set “Overlap fault on our serve” to “Apply”. RallyBoard then checks both serve and receive formations. Check your league’s current rulebook to choose the right setting.
Does RallyBoard work without an internet connection?
Yes. The tactics board, the rotation board and match mode run entirely on your device. You need an internet connection only for the play gallery, for opening shared play links in a browser, and for buying or restoring Pro.
Where is my data stored?
On your device. There is no account, and your boards and rosters are not uploaded to a server. To move to a new iPhone or iPad, open Menu → Full backup, send the backup text to yourself, then paste it into Full backup on the new device and tap Restore. The app sends only anonymous usage statistics, without names or board contents; see the privacy policy.
Can a school or club install RallyBoard on many devices?
Yes. The app is free, so a school can distribute it to managed iPads with Apple School Manager and a device management (MDM) system, and anyone can install it with their own Apple Account. RallyBoard Pro is an in-app purchase made per Apple Account. On another device signed in with the same Apple Account, tap Restore purchase on the Pro screen.
Is there an Android version?
Yes. RallyBoard is available on Google Play for Android phones and tablets. RallyBoard Pro is purchased separately in each store, so a purchase on the App Store does not carry over to Google Play, and vice versa.
Which languages does RallyBoard support?
13 languages: Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), Italian, Polish, French, German, Serbian (Latin), Turkish, Russian, Portuguese (Brazil) and Spanish. The app starts in your device language when it is supported, and you can change the language in the menu.
How can I contact the developer?
Email syninasoft@gmail.com. Questions, bug reports and feature requests are welcome, and replies usually come within a few days.
